"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified." Isaiah 61:3

Sleeping On Your Miracle

“In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” – James 2:17

I found my daughter’s pride ring today, after a year of thinking it was gone.  I prayed and prayed for God to help me find it, and then I waited in faith.  I eventually gave up after searching high and low, and pronounced it gone.

It was only when I went to vacuum under my bed, and really do a good job of it, that I saw that shiny gold ring sitting there, amidst the dust bunnies and dog hair that had accumulated.  I was overcome with Joy!  I thanked God over and over, that my ring had been returned to me.  It was precious to me because I am not with my family all of the time as they live in a different province, and also my mother had passed away a few years ago.  She had always wanted to give me her wedding rings when she died; however, she too had done the unthinkable, and lost them.

What I thought was long gone, had finally been returned to me!  I always clung to the hope that it would.  But then I got to thinking.  You can have faith in God to help you do something, but if you don’t take the necessary actions, what is the point?  God gave us eyes, ears, hands and feet for a reason.  Faith is only the fuel, but once the tank is full you have to step on the gas to get things going.

Sometimes it’s a matter of clearing the clutter out of your life to make room for the miracle, or even see the miracle.  Vacuum under the bed!  Had I only have listened to that still small voice.  Sometimes we aren’t open to receive what God is going to give us, because we lack faith, and sometimes we are just lazy in our faith.  Sometimes you are sleeping on your miracle!

This ring is precious to me because it’s a symbol of family I truly thought I had thrown this ring into the garbage by mistake when I was cleaning last, and that it would never come back to me.  It was swept under the rug by mistake.  It’s still as beautiful as it once was, in safe keeping the whole time.  Admittedly had I have cleaned under there sooner and more often, it wouldn’t have taken so long for me to find it.  Patience is also essential in every case we bring to God, but the steps of a good man are ordered (Psalm 37:23), we simply have to step out in faith and let God lead us.

“Vision without action is just a dream, action without vision just passes the time, and vision with action can change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
