"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified." Isaiah 61:3

No Two Alike

The first snow is magical to me.  It invokes many different emotions for people.  Some become bitter; however, if you are like me, you become like a little kid in the playground ready to stick on your snow suit and dive right in!  We haven’t had a true snowfall as of yet, but I wait for it patiently.  There is a time and a season for everything on the earth.  (Ecclesiastes 3)

It’s like a miracle, because it is a miracle!  Like a thousand perfect hexagonal prism like diamond pieces falling out of the sky, illuminating when the light hits them just the right way.  I could stand and watch them fall for hours.  There are thousands of them, no two being similar.  They are as uniquely made as we are.  (Psalm 139:13-14)

Snow is mentioned quite a few times in the bible.  It says that after Jesus was risen His appearance was as white as snow.

“His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow.” –  Matthew 28:3

Snow is the most purest form of precipitation, so you can actually eat it, as long as it hasn’t been contaminated by our furry little friends.

When we accept God into our lives, we become like new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)  He washes us to become as white as snow.  Regardless of the stains from our past, when God looks down on us that’s how He sees us.

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” – Isaiah 1:18

There’s a poem I came across on pinterest that I want to share, as it really depicts God’s love for us.  It’s amazing how God’s creation can speak to us sometimes.  Now every time I gaze upon a snowflake, I imagine that I’m seeing through God’s eyes, as He looks back at me.  Magical…..  And so I look back into the heavens in awe, and praise the Lord.

Snowflake Poem

“Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps: Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word: – Psalm 148: 7-8
