Ode to the Shooting Star

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” Psalms 8:3-4 (NIV)

In the deepest darkest moments;
in my wintry hour of despair,
you send a shooting star
firing through the air.

Lighting up the night;
distracting evil schemes,
thoughts invading my mind;
disappear like a dream.

Into unknown galaxies they go,
as quickly as they came.
As the earth doth ebb and flow,
In reverence to His name.

Pure and pristine;
swift in flight,
joy has surely arrived tonight.
Ode to The Shooting Star.

“This is what the LORD says, he who appoints the sun to shine by day, who decrees the moon and stars to shine by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar – the LORD Almighty is his name.” Jeremiah 31:35

“He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.” Psalm 147:4

Sometimes amidst the most difficult times in your life, maybe you are going through seasons of change, God will show up in the middle of those circumstances when you least expect it. It could be a word from someone, a song that really touches your heart, a financial miracle, etc. Sometimes, it can be something as awesome as a shooting star! God will use whatever He knows will get your attention, to let you know that He is with you, and hearing you.

I was having the worst night, almost to a point of mental breakdown. I just was feeling like I was not good enough for something God had asked me to do. I did it anyways, but the moment I completed the task, immediately I went into this state of despair. I started letting the enemy get inside my head, which he will almost always try to do, when God is about to bring some growth into your life. Sometimes our negative self talk is even worse. Sometimes we are just so mean to ourselves! And most of the things we say are completely out of this world untrue. If we could only see through our creators eyes.

I cried out to God driving home, and I just went on and on, and on, and on …. you get the point. Tears streaming down my face, I really didn’t understand why I was in such despair. I think we have all been here at one time or another. Then out of nowhere I saw a shooting star! I had not seen one since my 20’s. It stopped me in my tracks; I was just so in awe! Then I said, “God did you do that for me!” It was like He was trying to get me to stop talking so He could speak to me, comfort me, then set things straight.

The shooting star was timely, just like Jesus came to save us from sin, and will come again to make things right. This world certainly is not what God intended. His timing is perfect, and if He gives us a job to do, He also equips us with the anointing and ability to do it. He also gives us strength for anything we will face in this life. His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

If you are going through something and you are waiting for an answer, wait on it! It is around the corner. It’s easy to get anxious of course, but His timing is perfect. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

God knows the words you speak before they are even formed in thought. He knows the desires and troubles of our hearts. He knows the days ahead. He is happy to go to battle for us, and comfort us when we struggle, but we need to allow Him to intervene in our lives. He cares about EVERY single detail and is overjoyed when we allow Him to help us. Heck, sometimes I even ask Him what I should eat. Having that type of intimate relationship with God is important. It’s like having a constant friend beside you that you can talk to at any moment, with no time constraint.

I was so overjoyed seeing the star! It jolted me to reality. God cared so much that He sent a shooting star to remind me of something very important. He Loves Us! He named every single star in the universe, and sees every single one of us where we are, and cares about EVERY single one of us. He knows the number of hairs on our head, isn’t that amazing! There is nothing He can’t handle, no matter how harsh a situation may seem. His will and his timing is perfect, and He is faithful. He is magnificent!

:God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:9

Even in the times of despair, He will give you a peace that surpasses all understanding. That is a true sign of a Christian. It’s not that we will never react, but we quickly come back to reality, and say you know what God’s got this! My husband had a bowel blockage some time ago, and he was in severe pain. I had to rush home to work to get him to the hospital and he was over the top anxious and scared. The first thing out of my mouth was, “God’s got you.” He immediately showed a sign of comfort and trust, even through the pain.  He told me later that it was just what he needed to hear.

Our moments of dark despair can quickly be turned to moments of insane joy! Know that God is with you, He always has been, and always will be. Even if you aren’t really a believer, or are seeking, trust me, He is with you too! Just call on His name and He will be there. Thank you Jesus!

God Bless !
