More than Conquerors

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us,who can be against us? Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:31

All of us have a calling and purpose in this life given by God. It can take us time to figure out just what it is that God wants us to do, but there is one thing I can tell you for sure: When you decide to move forward and do something for God, you are bound to face adversity; I can 100 % guarantee it.

You see, the enemy loves nothing more than to try and keep us from getting closer to God and fulfilling God’s will for our lives. If we are not careful we can lose out with God before we even notice we were slipping away. I have certainly been there myself. We let little things back into our lives until before we know it, we have fallen right into the trap. We have gone back to the life we once tried to get away from.

Many people quit because it’s too hard to deal with adversity. Being a Christian isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. I would rather spend a day in His court, than a thousand somewhere else. I have done the somewhere else thing in the world, and it doesn’t work, all it does is tear down what God tried to build for us.

For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Psalm 84:10

Sometimes we quit because we have a fear of failing, or we are holding onto shame and guilt. Things from our past that are telling us were not good enough. Our past does not determine our future. Outside of Christ we are lost. In Christ our paths are made clear. He shows us who we are in IN Him, and through our weakness He is made strong. He knew us before we were ever born. (Jeremiah 1:5) Jesus trumps our past, and even our future failures. He knows what will happen before we even step foot out the door. The thing that matters, is that we get back up.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9

When we give into these ploys (that are not of God) we will surely fail. Our adversities only have the power we give them, and the devil is a liar. Perhaps you are just starting out in your relationship with God, and you are doing everything possible to get to know Him.  It is in these times of adversity God is trying to grow us. We must be careful to stay in prayer and learn to discern the voice of God, and what His words says. So when the enemy shows up, we have the truth at hand.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. 1 Peter 5:8

Sometimes we fall because what we are doing, was never required by God in the first place, and is of our own doing. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Psalm 37:23

On another note, if you feel confused about something God has asked you to do, or you have to force things into motion, more than likely It wasn’t God to start with. If what you have chosen to do causes you to feel worn out to the point where you don’t have time for your personal relationship with God, then it’s not from God.  God will always provide you the resources, the time, and the ability to get the job done. But He ALWAYS commands rest, and communion with Him.

I hear the saying, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me all the time. It is a great saying. But what does it mean? Does it mean no matter what we do we will not fail? No, it just means that whatever situation we find ourselves in, we learn to be content and lean on Jesus instead of our own strength.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13

We are to give him the first of our fruits. This doesn’t just have to do with money, it has to do with our TIME. If we give priority to everything else in our lives, and THEN God, you are doing it wrong. If your activities or bumping God to the end of the list, or taking you further and further away from God, you are doing it wrong.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

Confusion is not from God, when God asks you to do something, He is very clear about it. That’s why it’s always best to wait on God to give you the go ahead.

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 1 Corinthians 14:33

The disciples knew their call, and they were committed to it. They received much persecution in their day because they refused to stop preaching the gospel. They could have quit many times due to the threats they received, but if they had done so, many may not have heard the good news and been saved.

“And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.” Acts 5:38-39

When the apostles faced council, the high priest asked why they continued to preach the gospel after being commanded not to? The apostles stated they ought to obey God rather than men. Who could argue with this? They explained further that Jesus was the savior, whom they had hung on a tree to die, and now sits at the right hand of the father, leaving behind forgiveness of sins, and the holy ghost to all that believe and obey Him.  (Acts 5:24-32)

They must have spoken with much authority, as those present were cut to the heart after hearing this. So much so that they wanted to slay them.

But a Pharisee named Gamaliel stood up and said, “Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men. For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought. After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed. And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.” Acts 5:35-39

Gamaliel being a Pharisee, even knew that if something was of God nothing can destroy it. Man can be destroyed but Gods will is final.

The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.  All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits. Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. Proverbs 16:1-3

Jesus has already overcome the world.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

So, if He is for us, who can be against us. What does this mean? It doesn’t mean that no one will ever come by our way and hurt us. It just means that even though we may be persecuted in the flesh, there is absolutely nothing that can separate us from God. Our eternity is secure with Him. (Matthew 10:28)

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39
