    Ode to the Shooting Star

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?” Psalms 8:3-4 (NIV) In the deepest darkest moments; in my wintry hour of despair, you send a shooting star firing through the air. Lighting up the night; distracting evil schemes, thoughts invading my mind; disappear like a dream. Into unknown galaxies they go, as quickly as they came. As the earth doth ebb and flow, In reverence to His name. Pure and pristine; swift in flight, joy has surely arrived tonight. Ode to The Shooting Star.…

    Judas

This is a poem I wrote some time ago for a play, it depicts Judas in his last moments.  You can read more about it in Matthew 27.   In this moment of dark desperation His image still clouds my mind Of the man I once followed Whispering, thy will not mine No silver can ever replace The look of death upon his face Betrayal of an innocent man Should have been me on the stand I drank the wine, I ate the bread Is it prophecy as he pled? How could I ever deny Better to have never been born he said! Crucify! Crucify! They declared I should have…

    SunFlower

Sunflower, standing tall. In full splendor; amidst a lavender sky. Withering not; Strong in root,  like a tree planted by the waters. Extending; Reaching; Willfully. Never fearing the heat, nor drought. Glowing green leaves. Faithfully seeking; Growing, to unbelievable heights. Raising up; Glorifying the creator. Worships the sun. Mighty in stature, like a city on a hill; It cannot be shaken. Scattering precious seed. Salt and light. Unshaken; Unmoved. Beautiful, Sunflower. “For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in…

    Love Song

Underneath a darkened sky, and everything around me fades.  I hear your voice sweet by and by, as I hearken the sounds of Amazing Grace. You carry me through shadows of doubt. put songs in my heart to sing. You breathe life into the darkest of hours; watch me fly as you grant me wings. Lost in the wilderness, you lead me home; with open arms, amidst the throne. Beyond the cross into the blue; colors of love, in every hue. Whatever Lord you ask of me, You’ll surely give me strength to succeed. Now, always, and forever true; My life, my heart, and my song for you.

    Nature

Whispering wind upon the sea Whisper sweet nothings unto me A rolling thunder of the coast A sound of beauty, full of boast Crashing waves and cliffs of art Flow into the streams of my heart Fly o’er head into a blue bowled sky Sing songs until the fire that shines Tidal waves and mountains that roar Birds that sing and eagles that soar The brave world serenades the moon As creatures make for early June Suddenly the light of rebirth prowls upon the soil of the earth Rise up sweet miracles Be born Security surpassed the storm

    Jesus Is Alive

Daughters of Jerusalem don’t weep for me. Tell the world, this moment you are free. Sweet hour of mercy, sweet hour of prayer; Look forever into eternity I will be there.   Jesus is alive and risen forever more, from the old rugged cross past Calvary’s endless shores. A conqueror of death, from Glory He came; Alive forevermore, praise His holy name.   In the sixth hour came the darkness, til nine as the setting sun; The temple curtain is torn, Father into your hands I come. Broken is the curse, the tombstone rolled away. A sinners heart now open, forever enter in today.   Jesus is alive and risen forever more,…
