He took a single shot, and it paved his way to victory! What would have happened if Wayne never worked toward his goal? What if he became fearful and never became more than a backyard hockey player wanna be? Well, not much other than we would miss out on the…

    Faith Hope Love

“For now, we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love” 1 Corinthians 13:12-13 (NIV)

Happy new year! What is your resolution?

It’s January 5th and I’ve yet to say Happy New Year, or boast about my New Years Resolutions. I have never really placed much emphasis on resolutions, because in my opinion they are a bit of a waste of time to dwell on. Resolution by definition, is a decision to do, or not to do. To solve a problem in your life, or simply go for a goal you have been putting off. I’ve heard it said, “Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift. That’s why we call it the PRESENT.” I am not entirely sure who wrote that, since many people have quoted…

    Without Vision

“Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” – Proverbs 29:18 Abib stands for Early Spring. In the Hebrew lunar calendar, around March or April, was when the Israelites were led out of Egypt into a blooming new land full of milk and honey.  (Exodus 13:4-5)  It was a good time to travel. Spring is significant of new life, and new beginnings.  It gives us something to look forward to when the winter of life becomes treacherous and never ending.  We all look forward to ground hog day, hoping for a sign that spring is near.  We all need a vision, a hope for a…

    Miracle Oil

“Now there cried a certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets unto Elisha, saying, Thy servant my husband is dead; and thou knowest that thy servant did fear the Lord: and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen.” – 2 Kings 4:1 We all love a good miracle story.  Especially when tragedy strikes we like to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  There are many miraculous stories in the Bible; however, this one was really an eye opener for me. I believe God brought me to it for a reason to teach me something specifically; however, I’m…

    Name Your Giant

“Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” – Mark 11:23 We all face things in life, problems that can be so hard to face that they often feel like mountains or giants.  They can come in many different forms such as doubt and unbelief, financial issues, health issues, relationship issues, and sometimes a big one is lack of self confidence. In the book of Samuel, David faced Goliath even though the odds didn’t look so great, given the size of…

    Play it forward

“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.” – Nora Roberts I was sitting around one day pondering life, and a thought crossed my mind.  I thought about how miraculous it is that babies can live in a womb, without even being able to breath.  For me I was thinking on the surface – If a person stops breathing or cannot breathe, then certainly they can’t live.  The miracle of life, and how God facilitated it is so amazing.   How God infused the human spirit into…

    Faith In Action

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1 Trust is an act of faith.   Faith is not evident in your life if you do not activate it.   “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” – James 2:17 It takes faith to trust in God. You can’t see Him, but you know in your heart He is there, and that He loves you beyond measure.  Jesus died on the cross and left his Holy Spirit as our comforter; to encourage us in our faith, as signs and wonders follow them that believe. (Mark 16:17) The Lord…

    Living Water

“Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.” – John 7:38 A friend of mine contacted me for prayer when her daughter took to a spiking fever, after she rushed her to the hospital. Seeing your own child sick has to be the worse thing a parent can endure, and can certainly spark a sense of fear. I thought of rushing over there to lay my hands on her ailing child, and to be there for her; however, decided for right at the moment, my proximity doesn’t affect what God can do. I simply stopped all…
