    He is Risen!

“It was now about noon, and darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon, for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two. Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.”When he had said this, he breathed his last. Luke 23:44-46 A darkness may have come over the land at one time, and may still seem that way at times, but be assured that He has risen! He is still alive and powerful today! No matter what storm you face, Jesus is there in the midst, shining a light ready to help you fight…

    It won’t rain always….

Or in our case with such high heat and temperatures, it’s all anyone wishes for is rain.  With fire risks and heat stroke always on the prowl, a little rain is just the cure for a time of drought.  The song writer who wrote the song, “It won’t rain always,” was speaking to the fact that sometimes when it rains it pours, but it won’t rain always.  Weeping may endure for a night but joy always comes in the morning.  (Psalm 30:5) Today, I am speaking on another note.  That although sometimes we have all the rain we need, sometimes we go through periods of drought.  Periods where we…

Right expectations – The best is yet to come

“There are two ways to be happy:  improve your reality or lower your expectations.”  – Jodi Picoult This is by far one of the hardest things we struggle with in life it seems.  Some days you may feel like you can’t walk right, talk right, or do anything right.  Especially if you wake up on the wrong side of the bed.   It is a thing. We take for granted the fact that we have all we need (Psalm 23) As humans we are just in a constant state of expectation.  Not that it’s wrong to expect things, even miracles; however, sometimes we have an unrealistic expectation of how things…

    Oh Foggy Day

“Then the Lord appeared at the tent in a pillar of cloud, and the cloud stood over the entrance to the tent.” – Deuteronomy 31:15  Many times in the bible the Lord appeared in a cloud. (1 Kings 8:12)  We know that our natural eyes could never look upon the face of God, so perhaps this is the reason He appeared in such forms to speak to His people.  He appeared in all types of natural phenomenon. “There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up.” – Exodus 3:2 It’s…

    Year of the Lord’s favor

“They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.”- Isaiah 61:4 September 11 is a day no one will soon forget.  On that tragic day in 2001, we watched a city, and a world torn to pieces.  A tragedy of the twin towers being destroyed, taking many lives along with it by the hand of evil.  Many hearts were broken, and lives shattered.  It would seem in times of such tragedy that nothing can ever rebuild from such devastation; that nothing beautiful can come out of the ashes. A great memorial was built after September 11th, showing that…

    I’ll meet you there

“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” – Isaiah 43:2 Recently there was a boating accident on the St. Lawrence River here in Ontario.  Three men were fishing on a boat; two lives were saved, one was taken. I can only imagine what it would feel like, to feel so helpless and out of control in such a situation.  The world can take so much from us at a moments notice, yet still, I know…

    The Wonder Years

“God gives us fresh mercy each morning – enough to get through one day at a time.”  – Sheila Walsh His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:23) As the leaves fall and the seasons change, we simply need to be still and know that he is God.  Sometimes it’s hard to live in the moment, when were always planning ahead.  We forget to stop and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us, and soak in the moments that make up life.  We are never promised a tomorrow, so we simply need to live for the day and cherish it. “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day…
